Medical Department, Division of Hematology, Oncology and Tumor Immunology

Headed by Professor Dr. Bernd Dörken the Medical Department, Division of Hematology, Oncology and Tumor Immunology on Campus Virchow-Klinikum is part of the CharitéCenter for Tumor Medicine. The latter encompasses radiotherapy, immunology, transfusion medicine and hematology/oncology and in turn is part of the Charité Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The division serves as center for specialized inpatient and outpatient diagnostics and treatment of patients with diseases of the hematopoietic and lymphatic systems.

  • Lung cancer, colorectal cancer, stomach cancer, renal cell carcinoma and esophagus carcinoma
  • Other gastrointestinal tumors and sarcomas

State-of-the-art therapies

  • Antibody therapy
  • Radioimmunotherapy
  • Autologous or myeloablative and non-myeloablative allogeneic stem cell transplant
  • Cellular immunotherapy
  • Regional chemotherapies

 

Diseases of the coagulation system are a further clinical focus. Moreover the department participates in research projects and heads several multi-center, national and international studies in oncology and hematology. New drugs that are not yet approved are regularly administered.
