Pediatric Rheumatology

The Charité Department of Pediatric Rheumatology is among the largest facilities in this field in all of Germany. Here an interdisciplinary team assures the therapeutic care of children and adolescents suffering from rheumatic disorders—most of which is outpatient, but inpatient care can be delivered if needed.

The department’s service spectrum includes inter alia therapies for the following disorders:

  • Blood vessel inflammation e.g. Purpura Schoenlein Henoch, Kawasaki syndrome, Takayasu arteriitis
  • Chronic joint disorders, all forms of joint rheumatism in childhood and adolescence
  • Collagenosis e.g. lupus erythematodis, dermatomyositis, sclerodermy
  • Fever syndromes e.g. Familial Mediterranean fever, PFAPA syndrome, TRAPS syndrome
  • Fevers of unknown origin
  • Infection-associated joint inflammation such as Lyme arthritis, reactive arthritis, rheumatic fever
  • Inflammatory bone disorders e.g. chronic recurring multifocal osteomyelitis
  • Other inflammatory system disorders e.g. Behçet’s disease, sarcoidosis
  • Pain syndrome e.g. generalized pain enhancement syndrome, chronic regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia syndrome, and reflex dystrophy
